Obituary of George Oglan
“Butch” “Geetz” Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025 surrounded by family after a brief illness. Loving husband of Vera (nee Lewchuk) of almost 55 years of marriage. Dad/Tato/Pops of Dana Oglan, Ulana (Bob) Djekic and Nicholas (Karina) Oglan. Loving grandfather of Gannon and Griffin Djekic and Zosia Oglan. He was fiercely proud of his children and grandchildren even if he didn’t always express it. Survived by brother Mitch Oglan, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also survived by sister-in-laws Sophia (Maxyme) Strychar and Lesia (Bohdan) Florchuk.
George was predeceased by his parents, John (1968) and Katie (2000) Oglan, sister Jean (2015) and Moe (2022) Natyshak, Bob (2003) and Connie (2013) Oglan, Ronnie (1981) and JoHanna (2017) Oglan, nephew Nick Natyshak (2021), great nephew Maury (2020) and great nephew Jackson Oglan (2018) as well as in-laws Nick (1982) and Anna (1984) Lewchuk.
George retired from Chrysler Canada in 1997 after 32 years of service. He was also Vice-President of CAW 1498. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, laying in the sun by the pool, golfing, and watching TV. He was a die hard Red Wing and Detroit Tiger fan, who always enjoyed watching them play live (especially with a Ball Park Hotdog meal…”the best deal in the park” he would say). He loved the Detroit Lions, especially in recent years. George always had to have the best cars and the latest and greatest tech gadgets. He had a cheeky and dry sense of humour even in the end.
The family would like to thank family and friends for their support, prayers and words of encouragement. (You know who you are). They also would like to thank Dr. Lawrence Jacobs for his compassion and honesty as well as the nurses at WRH (Ouellette Campus) 5 North; the nurses, Doctors, PSW’s and countless volunteers at Hospice of Windsor and especially to Alicia and Iman for allowing George to spend his final journey there.
Dana, Ulana and Nicholas would like to thank their Mother for her unwavering support and love of him. She did everything she could for him. Our Dad said that she was his Saint and didn’t know what he would have done without her.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in George’s honour to the Hospice of Windsor-Essex County.
