Obituary of Madelyn Schroeder

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Madelyn Schroeder, on March 2, 2025 at the age of 93. She is now reunited with her husband, Harry (2011), and daughter Susan (2023). Madelyn is lovingly remembered by her children: Diane (Oz) of Essex, ON. Katherine (Jason) of Burnaby, BC, and Kim (Ruth Ann) of Windsor, ON. She was known as 'Grandma' to Marissa and affectionately as 'MG' to Benson and RaeAnn. Born on November 22, 1931, on the family farm in Mossyvale, Saskatchewan. Madelyn was one of 11 children born to Cassandra and Frank Morris, Romanian immigrants who built a life on the prairies. She is predeceased by her siblings: Mary, Lena, Peter, Annie, Bill, George, Frank, Jenny, Katie, and Jack, and was the last surviving member of her family's generation. In October 1952, Madelyn moved to Windsor, Ontario, where she married Harry Schroeder and built a beautiful life filled with love and family. She dedicated over 35 years as a Nurses's Aide at Grace Hospital, where she cared for countless mothers and newborns on the maternity floor with kindness and compassion. Madelyn had a green thumb and took immense pride in her gardens, growing plants and flowers with love and care. She was also an exceptional cook and baker, known for filling her home with warmth, love and the aroma of homemade meals. A special thank-you to the staff at The Villages of Aspen Lakes for their continued support and compassion over the past 3 years. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Madelyn's honour may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor Essex. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel - Banwell Chapel (11677 Tecumseh Rd E) on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 10:00am until service at 11:00am. Cremation to follow. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared at windsorchapel.com
