Obituary of Eleanor Finn
Eleanor passed away at home surrounded by family on February 9, 2025 at the age of 92. Born on June 23, 1932 in Duncan, Grey County, Ontario to Gordon and Alma (Lever) McMullen. Cherished wife of the late Joseph Finn (1998). Loving mother of four children: Thomas Kerr and wife Janet; Crystelle Kennedy; Gregory Finn and wife Deirdre; Lisa Marquardt and husband Daryl. Mimi to eight grandchildren: Melanie Kennedy (2022), Timothy, Caitlin, Courtland, Pauline, Colton, Jacob and Nikita; five great-grandchildren: Alysha, Stanley, Douglas, Nicholas and Lane; and one great-great-grandchild Amari. Survived by sister Faye Ulmer and brother Alan McMullen (Sandy). Predeceased by siblings Robert McMullen, Elaine Smeeton, Lloyd McMullen and Angela Ganam.
Eleanor was raised on her family’s farm in Grey County, Ontario. In her twenties she left Grey County for Barrie, where she met Joe while both were working for DeVilbiss Canada. Eleanor and Joe married in 1963 and lived briefly in Toronto before moving to Windsor, where they would live out the rest of their years in their family home.
Eleanor and Joe found joy in traveling, especially by car, as it gave them the freedom to explore at their own pace. Frequent trips were made to family in Alberta, British Columbia and Texas. They would often drive up to Grey County on weekends with the kids to visit friends and family at the farm. Eleanor loved and cherished her extended family and friends throughout Canada and the US.
Eleanor was an active volunteer in her community, providing decades of service most notably with The Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County and the Windsor Symphony Volunteers Association.
