Obituary of Christos Kourtsidis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved patriarch Christos Kourtsidis. After a long life that began in Anavryta, Macedonia. Christos passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Windsor Regional Hospital in Windsor, Ontario. 

He was born on June 3, 1938, oldest son of late Nikolaos and Magdalene (nee. Pavlidis). On January 19, 1956 in the Village of Felle he was united in marriage to Despina (nee. Evreniadis).

Christos joined his wife in Germany 1963, and one year later they welcomed their first son Nikolaus. In 1966, together with their oldest son Nikolaus, they immigrated to Canada; soon after they welcomed son Stavros. In June'73, the family of four welcomed daughter Maria; living in Toronto until moving to Windsor six years later. 

Christos loved the outdoors; his favorite hobbies were Fishing and Hunting and people watching. Christos loved his community and even more his heritage; volunteering at the Greek festival every year, with lots and lots of loukmades for home. Christos was a memorable man and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Greek Club, Kafenio, Mcdonald's, and the Extendicare Long-Term Care Home in Tecumseh. 

Christos was a devoted Husband, Father, Papou, and Big-Papou. He is survived by his children Nikolaus(Denise), Stavros(Kim), and Maria. His grand-children Kate, Sophie, Martina, Micayla, Christos, Amelia, Joshua, Gabriella and great grandson Brien.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, many relatives residing in countries that span the globe. In addition to his parent's he was preceded in death by his wife Despina in (2019); including siblings Irene, Leonidas, Elefteria, Stefano, Anastasia.  

Friends and family are invited to join us in honoring a remarkable man who dedicated his life to making the world a brighter place by helping friends and family.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m.  Thrice Holy Hymn Service Thursday at 7:30 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 10:15 am from the Funeral Home, then to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 3052 Walker Road for the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.
