Obituary of Andreas Bergs

Andreas Bergs, born July 16, 1931 in Düren/Birgel, Germany passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 31, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years to Maria (née Schoffner), his children Darlene, Joe (Flora), Andy Jr., Mark (Dorothy) and the late Gary. Loving Opa to Joshua, Nathan, Lee Ann (Dan) and Ava. Survived by his brother Arnold (late Anchen). Predeceased by parents Heinrich and Anna Bergs, brothers Josef, Johann (Sibille), and sister Gretchen (Karl). He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Andy immigrated to Canada in 1954 as a tradesman in Cabinetry. He was a hard working, well known member of the Carpenter Local 494 since 1957, and was a Superintendent specializing in industrial and commercial construction. He was an active member of the Teutonia Club for over 30 years. Andy was an inventor and holder of various patents concerning fireplace heating inserts. He was an avid fisherman and gardener until the age of 91. As per Andy's wishes there will be a private graveside service at a later date. Many thanks to the I.C.U staff at WRH (Met Campus) for their incredible care, and to Father Antonio Del Ciancio for his visit and blessing. Donations to the Windsor Downtown Mission or Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation in memory of Andy would be greatly appreciated by the family.
