Obituary of Lawrence Peter Zilli

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lawrence (Larry) Peter Zilli on December 19, 2024, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family. Lawrence was the devoted husband of Eldred Helen (Young) Zilli, a caring and supportive father to Alison Zilli (Rob Bornais) and Raymond Zilli (Katherine McKittrick), and a proud grandfather to Ellison McKittrick Zilli, who brought him immense joy and light.

Born to Fantino “Valentino” Zilli (d.1944) and Marianna (Fogolin) Zilli (d.1986) who were from San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, Lawrence cherished his Italian heritage, and the enduring values of family, community, and resilience instilled in him during his early years. Lawrence was predeceased by his beloved older sister, Gloria Cinat (d.2014), who watched over him, offering guidance and support throughout his life.

A man of many passions and talents, Lawrence dedicated his life to making a meaningful impact on others. He was a respected high school teacher and a dedicated running coach who motivated countless individuals to strive for their best. Beyond his professional life, Lawrence embraced an array of hobbies that reflected his vibrant spirit. He was an avid traveller who, alongside his wife Eldred, explored the world, creating a lifetime of treasured memories.

A devotee of Tai Chi, Lawrence found balance and serenity in its practice. He was also a passionate long-distance runner, embracing the discipline and endurance it demanded while inspiring his family to participate in countless “fun runs”.  During the summer months, he enjoyed camping and cross-country road trips with his family to sight-see and visit extended family and friends throughout Canada and the United States. Lawrence had an unwavering love for live music and was a regular at concerts, where he found joy in the energy and artistry of performances. His passions reflected his boundless energy, perseverance, and joyful outlook.

To those who knew him, Lawrence will be remembered as a man of integrity, warmth, generosity, reliability, and enthusiasm for life. The Zilli family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice of Windsor for their compassionate care and support during Lawrence’s final days.
