Samuel Joseph Devin

DEVIN, Samuel (Sam) Joseph, 90 years, of Windsor, passed away on Wednesday July 6th, 2022 in Windsor. Sam is predeceased by his wife and soulmate Evelyn, his son Shawn, and his daughter-in-law Sandy. Sam was the loving brother of his predeceased siblings Theresa, Grace, and Pat. Sam is survived by his son Jamie, son William and daughter-in-law France, son Jon and daughter in-law Amy, and his cherished grandchildren Jennifer, Shane, Keeley, Liam, and Emma, and great-grandchildren Brayden and Presley, and devoted friends Adrian and Donna. Sam was born in Sombra to his loving parents Francis and Irene Devin on July 16th, 1931. Sam dedicated his professional and personal life to helping others and made a large impact on the community of Windsor and throughout Ontario. Sam was an addiction counselor at Brentwood Recovery Home and ran recovery programs at Brentwood for over 20 years. Sam also implemented programs in the federal prison system to provide substance abuse treatment to inmates with the goal of helping them create new lives for themselves which countless did. His work has helped many families and Sam’s impact can still be felt across Ontario. Sam was an avid reader and enjoyed the sport of boxing. He had a great love of animals especially horses which became a big hobby for him in retirement. Sam was loved by his family, friends, and many in the community. Sam had great love and devotion for his family and his biggest passion in life was always people as was evidenced by his life of service. If you feel so inclined, donations can be made to Brentwood Recovery Home and would be appreciated by the family. At Sam's request cremation has already taken place. Friends will be received for memorial visitation on Friday, September 9th, 2022 at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor, ON (519) 253-7234 from 10:00am until time of Memorial Service to Celebrate Sam's Life in the Chapel at 11:00am. Private Interment of Sam's cremated remains will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at
