Michalek, Rose Marie (nee Vigneux)
Passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, on the early morning of April 24th, 2021 at the age of 84.
Mom loved her family deeply. Besides having raised six kids on her own at a young age, she truly was the grand matriarch for our entire family and will be missed by many. Mom was also everyone's favourite ‘Aunt Rose’ as she loved all of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren just like they were her own kids. She was larger than life, funny, opinionated, and no-nonsense; The person you could talk to about anything and everything, a sharp shooter who told it like it was, and she earned everyone's respect and admiration because of it. She was almost ferocious in her love; She could yell and hug with the same amount of intensity. She was best known for her kisses and pinches. Mom had been sick for a while, but she hung in there like the true warrior she was. Her wishes were to stay at home, pain-free and comfortable in her own bed, close to her family.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 26 years, her soulmate, Anthony Michalek (2013); as well as her parents Imelda Deschamps (1966) and Eddie Vigneux (1952).
Loving Mother of Brian Futko, late Richard Futko (1991), Janice Boismier (Alan Guthrie), Charles Futko, Michael Deslauriers and Shari Futko.
Cherished Memé to Jennifer Bergen, Chantelle Boismier (Nick Meloche), Shira Labonte (Jeff Purdy), Kody Labonte, and Spencer Cavalear. A loving Great Grandma to Kyren Purdy and Kolson Purdy.
Dear sister of Fred Vigneux (Judy Vigneux), the late Nelson Vigneux (1992), the late Gerald Vigneux (2020), the late Robert Vigneux (1993) and the late Barb Vigneux (1960).
Mom was a proud nurse for over 45 years working at Hotel Dieu Grace, and Private Duty. She saw the needs of her patients who required breast prosthesis, and opened her own store ‘Rose Marie's Prosthesis Boutique’ on Wyandotte, where she had over 16,000 patients from all over the world.
Funeral services will be for immediate family members only. Cremation will take place, and at a later date we will have a Mass and bury her with the love of her life, Papa. Please do not feel bad that you cannot be here at this time, we know you are all here in our hearts. We will need your support later in the coming weeks and months.
