June 14, 1930, Windsor, Ontario – Oct. 11, 2017, Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. We are saddened to announce that Bill has passed away peacefully. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Nevenka. He will be missed by his loving sister Violet Smith and his cherished nephews Brad Smith, Lyle Smith (Vicky), Vernon Smith (Debbie). Bill was also a great uncle to Stephanie, Hunter, Lexi, and Laynee. He was a patron of classical music and jazz, as well as a world-traveler who visited the home of his parents in Croatia and loved his trips to Northern Michigan. An avid golfer, he taught his nephews, as well as his departed brother-in-law, Allan Smith, to play the sport he loved and was forever bringing them equipment and taking them on the course. Bill was a graduate of Windsor’s Walkerville Collegiate, where he played varsity football. He graduated from the University of Detroit in 1962, and was dedicated in serving his clients as a Michigan Certified Public Accountant. Along with his appreciation for the area’s culture and cuisine, he took special pride in vehicles made here, particularly T-birds and Cadillacs, and was a lifelong Lions fan. Special thanks to his remarkable caregivers Linda Fletcher and Mike Wiechert. Cremation arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. 519-253-7234 Friends and Family are asked to meet directly at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (834 Raymo) on Friday October 20, 2017 for visitation from 10am until time of his Memorial Mass at 11am.
